T1 move on in upper bracket of MSI as Faker sets record

T1 advanced to the upper bracket semifinals with a sweep of Mad Lions on Wednesday in the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational.

T1 won in 33 minutes and 24 minutes before clinching the match in Game 3, with all wins coming on red.

During the match, South Korean legend Sang-hyeok “Faker” Lee set the record for the most appearances in international matches with 200. He has been part of three world championship-winning teams.

Up next for T1 is Gen.G Esports. Mad Lions dropped to Round 1 of the lower bracket and will play G2 Esports. Both matches will be held Saturday.

The $250,000 Mid-Season Invitational’s bracket stage runs through May 21 with a top prize of $50,000. That stage is contested in a double-elimination format. All matches are best-of-five.

Cloud9 and Bilibili Gaming will square off on Thursday in another upper-bracket quarterfinal match. The winner of that match will face the victor of Friday’s clash between JD Gaming and Golden Guardians.
