Retired OWL star super returning for Overwatch World Cup

Matthew “super” DeLisi is coming out of retirement to compete in the 2023 Overwatch World Cup.

The 23-year-old tank’s name was included on the Team USA roster announced on Tuesday.

In March 2022, super announced his retirement from the Overwatch League’s San Francisco Shock after losing “the passion to compete.”

He joined the Shock in 2017 and helped them win OWL championships in 2019 and 2020. He also helped the U.S. win the Overwatch World Cup in 2019.

Dates have not been announced for the 2023 Overwatch World Cup, traditionally held in the fall.

In addition to super, the Team USA roster incudes Isaiah “Hydron” Rodriguez, Nicholas “Speedily” Zou, Kamden “Sugarfree” Hijada”, Christian “Ojee” Han, Benjamin “UltraViolet” David, Luka “Aspire” Rolovic, Rupal “Rupal” Zaman and Samuel “s9mm” Santos.
