The second week of Rams practices are in the books at UC Irvine.

IRVINE, Calif. – The Los Angeles Rams concluded their second week of training camp at UC Irvine.

After dealing with frustration from Tuesday’s practice, head coach Sean McVay says he was pleased with the way new talent has progressed at the end of Week 2.

“There are some things that you can’t see on tape in terms of the operation in and out of the huddle, that I think we can fix those types of things,” stated McVay.

“We’ve got some young guys that are doing things for the first time, so certainly there’s gonna be some patience, but they want to learn and I just want to see our guys not make the same mistakes twice.”

Here are some updates from Saturday’s practice:

Tutu Atwell exits practice with hurt ankle

During 11-on-11 drills Saturday, wide receiver Tutu Atwell went down with a catch and had his ankle briefly checked by trainers.

Although Atwell seemingly quickly recovered and reentered the drill some minutes later, he exited practice early.

“[Staff] came to me and said his ankle was bothering him a little bit,” McVay told reporters at the end of practice. “He kinda ended up not being able to finish up. I think his ankle was bothering him is what [staff] communicated to me.”

Rams sign tight end Camren McDonald

The Rams added some depth to their tight end position Saturday morning by signing Camren McDonald from Florida State. In his 2022 season with the Seminoles, McDonald recorded 21 receptions for 312 yards and one touchdown.

The announcement comes as the team is thin in the tight end position. Behind Tyler Higbee and Brycen Hopkins (who has suffered a few injuries over the past few years), the acquisition gives McDonald a chance for the roster spot.
