Nicolas Jarry defeated Tomas Martin Etcheverry 6-7 (5), 7-6 (5), 6-2 to win the Movistar Chile Open on Sunday in his native Santiago, Chile.

Jarry, 27, delighted the home crowd in breaking through for his second ATP Tour singles title. His only other win at that level came at the Swedish Open in 2019.

Jarry had a 5-4 lead on his Argentine opponent in the first-set tiebreak before Etcheverry won the final three points to win the set. In the second-set tiebreak, Jarry had to rally from down 4-2 to ensure the match went to a third set, and he dominated from there.

Jarry won 49 of 61 first-service points (80.3 percent) and broke Etcheverry’s serve three times in six chances. Etcheverry had a 9-6 edge in aces but committed five double faults to Jarry’s one.

After entering the main draw on a special exemption, Jarry won his final four matches in three sets, including a second-round upset of fourth-seeded Argentine Diego Schwartzman.
