LOS ANGELES β€” The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates, 9-2, thanks to a standout performance by Andy Pages on Sunday afternoon at Dodger Stadium.

Pages didn't have the best start to the season, going 3-for-23 at one point. However, he has definitely turned things around over the past week, showcasing his skills both with the bat and in the outfield. He has made some impressive plays, including robbing a few home runs and executing diving catches. Currently, Pages is on a five-game hitting streak, going 13-for-20 during that stretch.

β€œThe team has talked to me and told me to relax and just to go out there and play, and things have been working out,” Pages said.

The Dodgers were shut out by the Pirates on Friday night, and since then, they have outscored the Pirates 17-6 in their last two wins.

After a four-run inning that led to their victory over the Pirates on Saturday night, the Dodgers started their next game strong with another four-run inning. The inning began with a walk by Shohei Ohtani, followed by a single from Mookie Betts, who had gone hitless the previous night and was 0-for-8 in his last two games. Freddie Freeman then stepped up and hit a two-run single to right field, driving in Ohtani and Betts.

The Dodgers' hottest hitter, Pages, registered his first hit and RBI of the game with a single to left field in the first inning.

Pages matched his career high with four hits in a game, setting a new personal best with four runs batted in for the first time, while also recording his fifth home run of the season.

After hitting the go-ahead home run the previous night, Teoscar Hernandez hit another home run, marking the 200th home run of his career in 10 seasons.

Right-hander Tyler Glasnow allowed back-to-back home runs in the top of the first inning but could not continue into the second inning due to right shoulder discomfort.

Andrew McCutchen hit his third home run of the season on the very first pitch he faced from Tyler Glasnow, sending a high fastball 407 feet over the center field wall. Following McCutchen, Enmanuel Valdez hit another fastball from Glasnow, launching it 383 feet to right field for his second home run of the season. While Glasnow managed to finish the first inning, that would be the end of his outing.

The Dodgers remain focused on replacing injured pitchers. During warm-ups, Glasnow began to signal to the dugout after throwing a few pitches. Dave Roberts and the trainer quickly came out to assess the situation, and Glasnow was subsequently taken out of the game.

β€œIt kinda comes and goes, and I think some of the adjustments I’ve made prior, I think I feel like something changed on my mechanics,” Glasnow said.

Glasnow, 30, left his previous start after four innings due to leg cramps. The Dodgers have faced ongoing challenges with multiple injuries since signing him as a free agent last season. After the game, Glasnow stated that he would take a few days off to rest before undergoing any tests to evaluate his shoulder. Having dealt with injuries in the past, he has tried to make adjustments to prevent further issues, but unfortunately, those efforts have not been successful.

β€œIt’s just been a thing with changing stuff,” Glasnow said. β€œI think it’s been hard for me to find a footing,”

The sense of frustration was easy to recognize after the game between Glasnow and Dave Roberts regarding the injuries. Glasnow understands that he is letting his team down, as he is viewed as one of the top pitchers when fully healthy.

β€œI’m obsessed with trying to figure out what’s going on,” Glasnow said. β€œIt’s been like this for a few years. I’ll do whatever, I just don’t really have an answer right now,”

Glasnow has a record of 10-6 in 26 starts as a Dodger, having been shut down for the season in August. In his 11th season, Glasnow set a career high with 22 starts last season.

Roberts mentioned that there is a possibility that Glasnow will be placed on the injured list after being examined by team doctors. He expressed confidence that this is likely a short-term issue rather than a long-term concern.

β€œI think in the next couple of days we will have some more answers to kinda see where we go short term, but we’re all frustrated,” Roberts said.

Right-hander Ben Casparius stepped up to save the day for the Dodgers, pitching 3β…” innings and recording five strikeouts. Manager Dave Roberts then handed the ball to right-hander Yoendrys Gomez, who made his Dodgers debut. Gomez pitched three scoreless innings, allowing four hits while striking out four batters.

The Dodgers are preparing to begin a three-game series against the Miami Marlins starting Monday. Right-hander Dustin May, sporting a 1-1 record and a 3.68 ERA, will take the mound for the Dodgers, while the Marlins will start right-hander Edward Cabrera, who has a record of 0-1 and a 6.14 ERA.

The Dodgers will use a bullpen game on Tuesday, and Tony Gonsolin will pitch on Wednesday afternoon.
