LOS ANGELES —UCLA point guard Londynn Jones is transferring to crosstown rivals USC after three years in Westwood with the Bruins. The Riverside, California native joins a Trojan squad that finished 31-4 with an Elite 8 appearance in the 2025 Women’s NCAA Tournament.
Jones is UCLA’s all-time leader in single-season three pointers made with 87, and her presence will bolster a Trojans squad that recently lost freshman guard Kayleigh Heckel and standout shooter Avery Howell to the transfer portal.
The Trojans, as well as the college basketball world—were shell-shocked when star guard Juju Watkins tore her right ACL in the first quarter second round NCAA tournament matchup against Mississippi State. The two-time All-American, BIG Ten player of the year, and 2025 AP and Naismith award winner’s timetable for return is currently uncertain, and Jones’ playmaking ability at the point guard position will be vital for a new-look Trojans team in the 2025-26 season.
USC was 2-0 against their arch rival in conference play, but lost a 72-67 thriller to the Bruins in the Big Ten Championship game–Jones finishing with 13 points and 3 assists in the victory. The Bruins advanced all the way to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament before losing to eventual champions UCONN 85-51. Jones joins a backcourt with incoming freshman and five-star recruit Jazzy Davidson, along with returning standout Kennedy Smith, and defensive energizer Malia Samuels. 5'11 Georgia Tech Junior guard Kara Dunn also announced her transfer to 'SC last week.
“Best of both worlds. LA…I’m still here” Jones said, announcing her commitment on social media. The 5’4 guard graduated from Centennial High School in Riverside–and was ranked the 22nd best player in the 2022 recruiting class. She won two gold medals–one each as a part of Team USA’s U16 and U18 teams.
