Los Angeles Clippers center Ivica Zubac (40) takes a hook shot during an NBA basketball game against the San Antonio Spurs, Tuesday April 8th, 2025 in Inglewood, California.

INGLWOOD, Calif. - The Clippers started the first night of the back-to-back on a good note with a 122-117 win against the Spurs on Tuesday night.

With Kawhi Leonard out, it was an all hands on deck effort for the Clippers, and while the Spurs brought forth their best effort, a monster game once again by Ivica Zubac proved to be the difference.

Zubac has been an anchor for this Clipper team, but his 24 points on 11-for-17 shooting and 20 rebounds led Los Angeles to a big win to stay afloat in the Western Conference playoff race.

With their 47th win of the season, and their 15th time in their last 18, the Clippers are now the 4th seed in the Western Conference.

James Harden continued his All-NBA campaign with a near triple-double at 21 points, 12 assists and 9 rebounds in an all-around effort as well.

But, the biggest story besides Zubac's great game was Norman Powell returning back to his pre-injury form.

Powell needed to step up with Leonard out, and he scored 25 points on 8-for-15 shooting. It was clear that Powell was able to have this type of scoring output, but was limited in touches due to the rise of play from his teammates around him.

In any case, Powell's return to his pre-All Star break scoring is a great sign in the case that his role expands in the postseason.

The fact that this Clipper team, with a little over 30 games played by Kawhi Leonard, is the 4th seed in a Western Conference that seems to be at its best in years, is a remarkable testament to the coaching staff, players and organization.

Now, the Clippers will presumably have Kawhi Leonard back against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday on the second night of a back-to-back.

Tipoff is set for 7:30 PM PST.
