LOS ANGELES – The Sporting Tribune announces the launch of its new mobile app and sports-image wire service, making it easier for sports fans in Southern California, Las Vegas and Hawaii to follow their favorite teams and players and download images of every game, anytime and anywhere.

The Sporting Tribune app is available for both Apple and Android users.

TheSportingTribune.com will remain the destination for full access to coverage of professional and collegiate teams in Southern California, Las Vegas and Hawaii. TST Images, The Sporting Tribune’s sports-image wire service, will feature best-in-class sports photography and will work with independent journalists and content creators to give them the ability to obtain photography for use in their stories, videos and social media posts.

“It’s never been a better time to be a sports fan in this region and we knew we had to step up our game to meet the 24/7 demand for sports content during this unprecedented time,” said Arash Markazi, CEO and founder of The Sporting Tribune. “We’re proud of the launch of The Sporting Tribune app, which will help fans keep up with their favorite teams and players on the go.”

Markazi, who has covered sports for over 20 years at Sports Illustrated, ESPN and the Los Angeles Times, founded the company along with data scientist Chris Mattmann, who was recently named the Chief Data & Artificial Intelligence Officer at UCLA after a storied 24-year career at NASA JPL where he was the Chief Technology and Innovation Officer.

Joining Markazi and Mattmann in leading The Sporting Tribune into a new era will be Jon Scher, Josh Cooper and Taylor Blake Ward, who will serve as senior editors. Scher was previously a managing editor at The Athletic and a deputy editor at ESPN, Cooper was a content strategist at The Athletic and launched the expansion of The Athletic in Los Angeles and Ward has worked at Baseball America. TST Images will be led by Ric Tapia, who has shot for Sports Illustrated, ESPN, NFL Nike and Gatorade.

The ever-expanding newsroom this week added Anthony De Leon, who has written for the Los Angeles Times and Wall Street Journal, Tyler Erzberger, an Emmy Award-winning writer, producer and creative director at ESPN as well as Carlos Yakimowich and Adrian Medina from Los Angeles Magazine.

The website and app were designed and powered by BoomPress, a leading content management system (CMS) provider, which has a proven track record of helping local sports outlets create a unique and identifiable brand, publish content, monetize, and engage with their audience.

All reporters will have a presence on The Sporting Tribune’s daily radio show, The Sporting Tribune Today, which can be heard on KIRN 670 AM in Southern California, 98.5 The Bet in Las Vegas and the Hawaii Sports Radio Network 95.1 FM and 760 AM in Hawaii. The show is also available on Spotify and TuneIn.
