DALLAS -- The Los Angeles Kings got ran over by the Dallas Stars 6-2 on Friday night. There was barely anything going the Kings’ direction, and Dallas center Roope Hintz was a major reason the team struggled so much defensively.
Hintz had four assists on the night including a secondary assist that was put in by winger Jason Robertson four minutes into the game to start the scoring.
The Finish center also had an assist on the power play goal scored by center Matt Duchene to make the game 2-1, a later power play goal from center Wyatt Johnston to push Dallas’ lead up to three and a goal with four minutes remaining scored by Canadian winger Logan Stankoven to make the game 5-2.
Dallas would also tally goals from Stankoven late in the first period which would be the ultimate game winner, and a shorthanded goal six minutes into the third period unassisted from center Sam Steel.
Kings goaltender Darcy Kuemper had 26 saves on 32 shots.
Los Angeles would only score twice in the matchup, from wingers Warren Foegele and Trevor Moore.
Almost seven minutes into the first period, Foegele would corral a bouncing puck that was tipped off center Phillip Danault’s stick, and push it past a diving Jake Oettinger.
Moore would score by a backhanded wrap around in the middle stages of the second period to make the score 4-2.
The Kings will now look to the second leg of their double-header against the St. Louis Blues on Saturday at 5 p.m.
