SAN DIEGO -- Beginning in 2024-25, the San Diego State men's basketball team will be making trips to every Mountain West venue as the league will have its first season with an expanded conference schedule from 18-20 games.
It means the Aztec are scheduled begin Mountain West play on Dec. 4 at Fresno State. It's one of two league games scheduled for the final month of the year. SDSU's conference home opener is slated for Saturday, December 28 against Utah State.
It's the second straight year that the Aztecs will open conference play against Fresno State and first time in three years that they will open on the road.
Byes are scheduled for Dec. 31 and Feb. 4, which will give additional time to prep for road trips to Boise State and Colorado State, both venues where the Aztecs lost last season.
The final road game will be March 4 at UNLV with Viejas Arena hosting the final regular-season game on March 8. It's the fifth time in the last six seasons that the Aztecs end their regular-season road schedule in the state of Nevada and second straight year it will happen at the Thomas & Mack Center.
The balanced schedule, which was adopted in March to "maximize NCAA tournament bids at the highest seeds possible" by the conference, comes with three sets of back-to-back home games and three pairs of back-to-back road games.
San Diego State is already slated to face Gonzaga and Cal Baptist at home this season, as well as taking part in the eight team Players Era Festival in Las Vegas over Thanksgiving weekend. In round-robin event, the Aztecs will face Creighton on Nov. 26, Oregon on Nov. 27 and Texas A&M on Nov. 30.
Additionally, SDSU will face Cal on Dec. 21 in a neutral-site game in the San Jose Tip-Off at the SAP Center.
Here is SDSU's full conference schedule, with dates subject to change and tip off times will be announced once the Mountain West media partners announce their coverage schedule:
