Three-team Celtics, Clippers, Wizards trade falls apart

The Clippers were a part of a three-team trade with the Celtics and Wizards, offering Marcus Morris, Amir Coffey and the 30th pick in the NBA Draft.

LOS ANGELES — The Clippers were close to acquiring point guard Malcolm Brogdon in a three-team trade with the Boston Celtics and Washington Wizards until injury concerns caused the deal to collapse.

The Clippers backed out of the deal just hours before completion.

Brogdon’s injury history is unfortunate, as he’s only played over 60 games in a season three times. Considering Los Angeles is arguably the most injury-prone team in basketball, there had to be serious concerns surrounding the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year.

Although the trade fell through, a deal involving Marcus Morris is imminent. Before being included in the almost-trade, news about Morris being unhappy in Los Angeles surfaced earlier in the week. It’s hard not to imagine a divorce coming soon.

The Clippers are nowhere near done with offseason decisions, considering the team is aging and holds a logjam at the guard position. Expect more fireworks and trade rumors as time closes in on Thursday’s NBA Draft.
