Coach Darvin Ham announced that Austin Reaves will not play in Saturday’s preseason opener against the Warriors. Reaves and LeBron James are the only two players who will sit out for the first game of the preseason. Reaves, however, was a full participant at practice on Friday. Anthony Davis remarked that Reaves looked really good during Friday’s practice and did not miss a shot.

The Lakers final practice on Friday before the team’s preseason opener against the Warriors kicked off with Ham sharing his love of hip-hop after spotting a team reporter with a Death Row shirt on. When asked which rap group this Lakers team most reminded him of he said “D-Unit This ain’t the final lap, we’re just getting started.” D-Unit was in reference to Ham’s defense-first coaching strategy which has been adopted by both the returning core and the Lakers’ new roster additions.
