Brown's 2023 season was cut short because of the disease, which was undiagnosed at the time. She was able to return to basketball when she played in Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball earlier this year.
“Having this league changed my life and it’s allowed me to get back healthy and get back to the level of play,” Brown said in an interview by Savanna Collins for AU.
Brown was able to come back and play for the Sparks this season. She had been in and out of the starting line-up and didn't miss a game until the Sparks' last game on Saturday against the Liberty.
She is averaging 8.1 points and 3.3 assists while shooting .304 on 3-pointers. Brown scored a season-best 20 points in the team's first win of the season against the Mystics.
The Sparks play next on Friday night in Phoenix against the Mercury and they will be without Azura Stevens (arm), Cameron Brink (ACL, likely out for the season), Layshia Clarendon (illness) and Brown.
Speedy recovery to Lexie Brown.
