Live round-by-round updates and analysis of the heavily anticipated undisputed welterweight championship fight between Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford.

LAS VEGAS – The Sporting Tribune’s Steve Carp is ringside at T-Mobile Arena for the heavily anticipated undisputed welterweight championship fight between Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford.

Spence (28-0), 22 KOs) is the WBC, WBA and IBF welterweight champion while Crawford (39-0, 30 KOs) is the WBO champion. Check back here for round-by-round scores from Carp.

ROUND 1

No surprises. It starts slow as most Crawford fights do. They are both trying to establish themselves early. No fireworks but a good job by Spence establishing his jab. I give him the slight edge in the first round.

Steve Carp’s Scorecard: Spence, 10-9

ROUND 2

A good bounce back round for Crawford. He got that straight right hand going and he knocked Spence down. T-Mobile Arena exploded after Spence hit the canvas for the first time.

Steve Carp’s Scorecard: Crawford 10-8, Crawford leads 19-18

ROUND 3

Really good round for Crawford. Spence appears to be a bit carless as he walks into Crawford’s punches. He better be careful or this could be over early.

Steve Carp’s Scorecard: Crawford 10-9. Crawford leads 29-27.

ROUND 4

Crawford’s ring generalship is really starting show in this fight. He is countering every move Spence makes. He is beginning to dominate this one.

Steve Carp’s Scorecard: Crawford 10-9. Crawford leads 39-36.

ROUND 5

Terence Crawford is looking really impressive. He’s fighting such a smart fight. He’s totally dominating him right now. If Spence has a Plan B, he should use it now because Plan A is not working at all. Every time Spence comes in, Crawford is beating him to the punch in the exchange.

Steve Carp’s Scorecard: Crawford 10-9, Crawford leads 49-45.

ROUND 6

Spence looks like a frustrated fighter to me. What does he do? He’s running out of time going into the seventh round. You can see the welts on Spence’s face from my seat on press row. Spence is just struggling to find something that works. Everything he does, Crawford has an answer for.

Steve Carp’s Scorecard: Crawford 10-9, Crawford leads 59-54.

ROUND 7

Spence needs to pull a Houdini to win this fight. The way it is going, it won’t get to 12 rounds. Crawford once again knocked Spence down and Spence’s face is a bloody mess. Had he not fought back, the referee looked as if he was getting ready to stop it. Crawford knocked down Spence before the end of the round and the doctor had to check in on Spence. He’s in bad shape.

Steve Carp’s Scorecard: Crawford 10-7, Crawford leads 69-61.

ROUND 8

Crawford is cutting off the ring and Spence has no answer. Spence has no answer to anything Spence’s footwork appears to be amiss. Crawford is just doing whatever he wants in the ring right now.

Steve Carp’s Scorecard: Crawford 10-9, Crawford leads 79-70

ROUND 9

So much for this being the fight of the year or the fight of the past five years. This is a blowout. The welts on Spence’s face are visible for fans sitting in the high-priced nosebleeds at T-Mobile Arena. Crawford has made Spence look very ordinary and he is a word-class champion. The referee should think about stopping this soon. There it is, the referee finally stops it. Terence Crawford is the undisputed champion.

WINNER: TERENCE CRAWFORD BEATS ERROL SPENCE JR. VIA 9TH ROUND TKO.
