Report: LIV Golf draws fewer viewers than ‘World’s Funniest Animals’

Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

LIV Golf’s television debut garnered a meager 0.2 overnight rating across 26 metered markets, Sports Business Journal reported.

LIV Golf Mayakoba, which concluded Sunday in Mexico with Charles Howell III winning a $4 million first prize, was the season opener of the Saudi-funded upstart circuit’s second season.

It also marked the first tournament since LIV reached a TV deal with CW Network. During the first season, all events were streamed for free on multiple social media platforms.

The overnight rating of 0.2 equates to an estimated 0.2 percent of households in the metered markets that chose to watch LIV Golf Mayakoba.

Golf Digest pointed out that another CW Network program, “World’s Funniest Animals,” outdrew LIV.
