No. 5 Arizona blowout UCLA 88-65 handing Bruins their fifth straight loss

The Bruins were winners of the last five home meetings against Arizona, but the Wildcats dominated this game.

LOS ANGELES — Lazar Stefanovic scored 20 points, Dylan Andrews chipped in 18 points but it wasn’t close to  enough as No.5 Arizona routed the Bruins 88-65 in their final regular season Pac-12 game.

Arizona (24-6, 15-4 Pac-12) was led by guards KJ Lewis with 18 points and Caleb Love with 17.

This win gave the Wildcats the Pac-12 regular season title.

Tonight’s game was the final regular season Pac-12 matchup for both schools as Arizona will head to the Big 12 and UCLA (14-16, 9-10 Pac-12) will head to the Big Ten next season.

The Bruins were winners of the last five home meetings against Arizona, but the Wildcats dominated this game after slight resistance early.

The Wildcats made a 29-12 run to end the first half which gave them a 44-27 lead at the half against the struggling Bruins.

This game looked much different than the two teams’ matchup earlier this season where UCLA held a 19-point lead at Arizona before a huge rally led to a 77-71 comeback victory for the Wildcats.

This loss for the Bruins gave them their season-worst fifth defeat in a row.

The Bruins will need to beat Arizona State at home Saturday night to finish at .500 in the league standings before heading to the conference tourney with some sort of momentum. They’ll have to play a first-round game in Las Vegas.
