“Nate voluntarily turned himself in to the New Orleans Police Department this morning approximately at 7:10 am CT,” Zach Rosenfield, Diaz’s representative, said in a statement released to the media. “We continue to look forward to presenting all the evidence and videos that show Nate was acting in self-defense.”
In the video, Diaz, following a Misfits Boxing card, was seen being confronted by Rodney Petersen, who is a social media influencer and boxer. Diaz put Petersen into a guillotine choke until he was unconscious. After releasing Petersen from the choke, Petersen’s head slammed against the pavement where he suffered additional wounds to the back of his head.
“Nate’s attorney looks forward to presenting all of the facts about this incident,” Rosenfield said on Tuesday in a statement released to MMA Junkie.“Rodney Petersen aggressively pursued Nate with the intention of engaging him and once doing so, Nate acted entirely in self-defense.”
Diaz, following his arrest, was later released on $10,000 bond.
Following his turbulent week, Diaz is still scheduled to fight Jake Paul in a boxing match in Dallas at the American Airlines Center on Aug. 5.
