Chargers vs. Titans prediction and breakdown

Ric Tapia - The Sporting Tribune
Chargers have their backs against the wall already in week two and are on the road.

Chargers (0-1) at Titans (0-1)

When: Sunday, 10:00 p.m.

Where: Nissan Stadium

TV/Radio: CBS; 98.7 FM; 105.5 FM/94.3 FM (Spanish)

Line: Chargers by 2.5 points

Notable injury designations: Chargers:  Questionable: edge Joey Bosa (hamstring) Doubtful: LB Daiyan Henley (hamstring), OUT: RB Austin Ekeler (ankle), LB Eric Kendricks (hamstring), edge Chris Rumph (hamstring)

Titans: Questionable: WR DeAndre Hopkins (ankle) OUT: OL Peter Skoronski (illness), S Amani Hooker (concussion), CB Kristian Fulton (hamstring)

What’s at stake? For both teams to not drop 0-2. For the Chargers though a lot is on the line. If they lose they drop to 0-2 in their record but also 0-2 in the conference and that makes or breaks the playoff picture. There is no such thing as a “must win game” in week two but this is pretty close for them.

Who’s better? The Chargers? Their offense is much better but will they incorporate Mike Williams, Josh Palmer, Quentin Johnston and Gerald Everett more? Is this defense going to be able to slow down Derrick Henry and Hopkins? A lot of questions but the Chargers should be better.

Matchup to watch: J.C. Jackson vs. DeAndre Hopkins. Jackson needs a bounce back game as does the whole secondary after last week, but this is going to be a crucial matchup.

Chargers win if: the defense can limit explosive plays. They gave up way too many last week. They need to help their offense out and keep the Titans out of the end zone.

Fantasy sleeper: Keenan Allen. Expect a big game from Allen.

Prediction: …….hmmm…..Chargers need this one BAD they beat the Titans in a low scoring 24-20 game.
