Chargers versus Jets break down and prediction

Chargers might face a tall task against the Jets defense.

Chargers (3-4) at Jets (4-3)

When: Monday, 5:15 p.m.

Where: Metlife Stadium

TV/Radio: ESPN; 98.7 FM; 105.5 FM/94.3 FM (Spanish)

Line: Chargers by -3.5

Notable injury designations: Chargers: Questionable: DL Morgan Fox (oblique), WR Jalen Guyton (knee), DL Sebastian Joseph-Day (illness), LB Eric Kendricks (ribs), LB Kenneth Murray (shoulder), DL Otito Ogbonnia (knee)

Jets: OUT: LB Chazz Surratt (ankle), OL Duane Brown (hip) Questionable: DB Adrian Amos (ankle), WR Allen Lazard (knee)

What’s at stake? For the Chargers it is to get to .500 on the season and get to a 2-3 conference record. For the Jets, it is about staying in a playoff position to continue holding out hope that Aaron Rodgers can comeback.

Who’s better? Toss up. Even. They both have a lot of talent at each position, but the tie breaker will be the quarterback, so edge to the Chargers.

Matchup to watch: Chargers pass rush vs. Zach Wilson. The Chargers need to make the Jets offense one dimensional and make Wilson beat them. He is prone to making mistakes so Brandon Staley needs to dial up consistent pressure.

Chargers win if: they can run the football efficiently while stopping the run on defense. They need to get Joshua Kelley and Austin Ekeler going on offense and give them consistent carries while also not letting Breece Hall go crazy.

Fantasy sleeper: Joshua Kelley. Offensive coordinator Kellen Moore needs to give him the ball more consistently because good things will happen.

Prediction: Jets. Their defense is one of the best in the NFL and will cause the Chargers problems. It will be low scoring 19-16 Jets victory.
