Chargers running back suffers an injury during Sunday's loss to the Miami Dolphins.

COSTA MESA, Calif. — Chargers head coach Brandon Staley said during Monday’s press conference that running back Austin Ekeler is dealing with an ankle injury and his status for Wednesday’s practice is to be determined.

Ekeler did finish the game which is a positive note.

He is coming off a strong performance on Sunday rushing for 117 yards on 16 carries which is a 7.3 average and scored a touchdown. He also included 47 yards in the air, 35 of which came on one play.

On Sunday, the Chargers found the balance between Ekeler and Joshua Kelley, who rushed for 91 yards on 16 carries for a 5.7 average and a touchdown as well.

It is a long week before Sunday when the Chargers travel to Tennessee to face the Titans but this team needs Ekeler’s play in the pass and run game.

Will provide an update Wednesday when the Chargers practice for the first time this week.
