Chargers RB Austin Ekeler and LB Eric Kendricks doubtful to play the Titans

Chargers have numerous players that are doubtful for Sunday against Tennessee.

COSTA MESA, Calif. — The Chargers could be without two of their most important players on Sunday against the Titans. Running back Austin Ekeler is dealing with an ankle injury, while linebacker Eric Kendricks has a hamstring injury.

They are both listed as doubtful, with neither practicing this week. Neither were seen on the practice field on Friday.

Ekeler was hurt during the Chargers loss over the Miami Dolphins last Sunday. He contributed 117 yards on the ground, 47 through the air, and a touchdown.

His play will be missed if he can’t go on Sunday. That means Joshua Kelley, Elijah Dotson, and Isaiah Spiller will have more responsibility.

Kelley had a big game against Miami, rushing for 91 yards and a touchdown. The three backs will be tasked with providing a rushing attack against one of the best rushing defenses in Tennessee.

On the defensive side, Kendricks was brought in to help stop the run, so if he doesn’t play, the job of stopping Titans running back Derrick Henry gets more complicated.

Kendricks also calls the defense plays, so without him, Staley will turn to linebacker Kenneth Murray for that responsibility.

Edge rusher Joey Bosa is questionable with a hamstring injury he sustained on Sunday. Bosa did get some work off to the side on Friday during practice.

It will be up to how he feels after working out on Sunday pregame. Staley called him a “game-time decision.”

Linebacker Dalyan Henley and edge rusher Chris Rumph are also doubtful with hamstring injuries. Both were limited on Friday.
