Bronny James is headed to USC

Bronny James is staying close to home as he commits to joining a star-studded USC team next season.

LOS ANGELES — Bronny James is officially a Trojan.

On Saturday afternoon, the son of NBA superstar LeBron James announced his commitment to USC. A top-25 player in the class of 2023 On3 Consensus rankings, James had been trending towards Andy Enfield’s program for several weeks now. Today, he made it official.

The addition of James serves as a big boost for an already loaded USC roster. The Trojans return three starters from last season’s NCAA Tournament team, including All-Pac 12 senior captain Boogie Ellis. They also signed Isaiah Collier, the number one overall player in the class of 2023, earlier in this cycle.

Beyond that, landing Bronny should propel interest in the USC program to an all-time high. Despite four consecutive 20-win seasons and three straight NCAA Tournament appearances, the Trojans have struggled to fill Galen Center in recent years. The addition of James—arguably the most high-profile recruit in history—should almost certainly change that.

Following the Lakers’ playoff game on Saturday evening, the elder James spoke on his son’s college commitment.

“One of the best days of my life,” James said. “I’m super proud of him. Our family is proud of him.

“He’s the first one to go to college in my family. Super duper proud, super emotional.”

Bronny will enroll at USC for the fall semester, which begins in August. The Trojans will open up their 2023-2023 campaign in November.
