A’s draw sellout crowd in Las Vegas

The Athletics attracted a crowd for a spring training game in Las Vegas that nearly matched their regular season home average in Oakland.

LAS VEGAS – The Oakland Athletics drew an announced sellout crowd of 8,805 for their spring training game against the Cincinnati Reds at Las Vegas Ballpark on Saturday.

The attendance for the exhibition game nearly mirrored what the Athletics draw for regular season home games in Oakland. The A’s averaged 8,660 for home games in 2021 when the team went 86-76 and and an announced average of 9,849 last season when the team went 60-102.

The A’s are currently looking to build a new ballpark in either Oakland or Las Vegas. They are working with the City of Oakland on a $12 billion project in Howard Terminal that would include a new ballpark. They are also looking at three locations in Las Vegas to build a new retractable roof stadium.
