At this point, the Vegas Golden Knights feel like a copy-paste from game to game.
On Tuesday, the Golden Knights tried to claw back from another early deficit, only to fall short in a 3-2 loss to the Buffalo Sabres.
The scoring would begin from Las Vegas native Jason Zucker. Taking advantage of a deflection that bounced off of Jack Eichel’s skate, Zucker was able to locate the puck and fire it past Akira Schmid in another instance of puck luck going against the Golden Knights.
After an Owen Power point shot and Tage Thompson one timer in the second period later and the Golden Knights found themselves in a three-goal deficit.
However, as has often been the case, the Golden Knights did their best to come back from what looked like an insurmountable lead.
The comeback attempt began just a minute after the Thompson goal. A Shea Theodore shot bounced to Ivan Barbashev, who tried to push it into the net from the slot. Eventually, he wrapped around the goal to beat Sabres goaltender Alex Lyon to put the Golden Knights on the board.
Two minutes later, Pavel Dorofeyev would get the puck behind everyone on the Sabres’ defense. Using his cannon of a shot, he would beat Alex Lyon through the five hole for his 29th goal of the season.
Unfortunately, it would be the closest the Golden Knights would get, with their third straight loss and 10th in the last 14 games. It also marked their 12th straight loss to playoff teams, which does not bode well for any Cup hopes they might still have.
A back-to-back with the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday awaits, with the trade deadline now bringing some uncertainty about what the vision is going to be.
