CARSON, Calif. — The LA Galaxy closed out their 2025 calendar year with a 2-2 draw against Liga MX powerhouse Club América on a rainy Saturday night at Dignity Health Sports Park. The international friendly, scheduled as part of both clubs’ postseason tune-ups, was called in the 86th minute due to nearby lightning.

In front of 16,714 fans braving steady rain, the match offered both entertainment and competitive intensity despite its exhibition status. The reigning MLS Cup champions used the night to evaluate depth and build continuity ahead of the 2026 season, while Club América continued its offseason training block in Southern California, often referred to as the club’s "second home."

América struck first in the 12th minute when Davila capitalized on a defensive lapse to beat Galaxy goalkeeper Novak Mićovic. The Galaxy responded quickly as Christian Ramirez leveled the match in the 17th minute, finishing a setup from Mauricio Cuevas.

Davila struck again in the 38th minute, restoring América’s lead, but the Galaxy answered before halftime. Gabriel Pec scored in the 41st minute, again off a Cuevas assist, tying the match at 2-2 and shifting momentum for the hosts.

Both clubs made heavy substitutions in the second half, with the Galaxy playing 21 different players including JT Marcinkowski, Tucker Lepley, Jose Magaña and Gabriel Arnold. The wet field conditions slowed the tempo after halftime, and neither team produced a breakthrough before weather forced officials to end the match four minutes early.

The friendly also included a pair of cautions — one issued to each side — as the play grew physical in midfield during the second half.

Despite the draw, the Galaxy leave 2025 with the confidence of an MLS Cup title run and optimism surrounding returning contributors and emerging talent. For Club América, the match served as another step in preparing for its next competitive campaign while engaging its large Southern California supporter base.

The Galaxy will now shift fully to offseason training and roster building as they prepare to defend their MLS crown in 2026.
