HENDERSON, Nev. -- As the Las Vegas Raiders prepare to face the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football, coach Pete Carroll provided an encouraging update regarding the potential return of Kolton Miller and addressed a controversial tackle by Raiders’ defensive end Tyree Wilson that knocked Denver Broncos’ running back JK Dobbins out for the season.
Carroll suggested that all signs are pointing toward a return for the veteran left tackle, who has served as the anchor of the offensive line essentially since his arrival to Oakland as a first-round draft pick in 2018.
“I do (think there’s a chance Miller returns),” Carroll said. “Yeah, he's getting around okay and everything's pointing towards that.”
On the injury topic, Carroll expressed regret that Dobbins would be lost for the season for Denver after suffering a Lisfranc fracture after Wilson initiated a hip-drop tackle that pinned Dobbins' foot underneath him and caused the season-ending injury. Wilson wasn’t fined for the hit, which a borderline play to be fair.
“That’s terribly unfortunate that he got hurt on that,” Carroll said. “I mean, we're playing ball, and we're doing what we gotta do, and it's a dangerous game. But unfortunately, he got banged up. That's why I feel terrible about it.”
Carroll stopped short of revealing who would be starting at right guard with Jackson Powers-Johnson on IR with an ankle injury, but the decision has been made between Alex Cappa and Caleb Rogers.
“Yeah,” Carroll said. “You'll find out at game time."
