The final pieces of the San Diego State Aztecs men's basketball team's 2024-25 regular season schedule are in place as they announced the complete nine game non-conference slate, plus an exhibition, on Thursday.

SDSU will host six home games, featuring a return visit from Gonzaga on Monday, Nov. 18, as well as a pair of cross-city contests against UC San Diego and University of San Diego. Additionally, there are four neutral site games – including the Players Era Festival in Las Vegas in late November.

After playing 13 regular season non-conference games last season, the Aztecs are playing a shortened non-conference slate due to the Mountain West expanding the conference schedule from 18 to 20 games for the 2024-25 season.

The schedule begins with an exhibition game against CSU-San Marcos on Wednesday, Oct. 30. The regular season home opener will be against UC San Diego on Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Last season SDSU played the Tritons on the road for the first time, winning on a put-back by in the final seconds. The Aztecs are 3-0 against UCSD since the Tritons elevated to DI and are 14-0 all time.

SDSU has opened the season with an exhibition game against a local non-DI school every season since 2021-2022, and have played their first regular season match up against a Big West school each of the past three seasons.

On Nov. 12 the Scarlet and Black will host Occidental College, marking the third time that the programs have met in the Aztecs' DI era and the 35th time overall. SDSU last played the Tigers in 2022 and set a program record with 19 3-pointers in a 95-57 win,

Gonzaga will visit Viejas Arena for the first time since the 2017-18 season and the second time in program history. Last season SDSU defeated then-No. 13/16 Gonzaga 84-74 at McCarthey Athletic Center and holds the all-time series edge at 3-2. The Aztecs won the previous meeting in 2017 by a 72-70 margin.

From Nov. 26 to Nov. 30 the Scarlet and Black will be participating in the Power MTE portion of the Players Era Festival in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. On. Nov. 26 the Aztecs take on familiar non-conference foe Creighton, then on Nov. 27 they face Oregon and on Nov. 30 will play Texas A&M for the first time.

San Diego returns to the slate for the first time since the 2019-20 season, with the Saturday, Dec. 7 meeting at Viejas Arena being the first home game against the Toreros since December 5, 2018. The Aztecs hold a 32-19 edge in the all time series, and have won three of five meetings over the last decade.

The home portion of the non-conference campaign closes against California Baptist on Wednesday, Dec. 11 for the first ever meeting between the two programs. The Lancers finished last season 16-17 overall with an 8-12 mark in the Western Athletic Conference.

A neutral site game against the California Golden Bears in the San Jose Tip-Off at the SAP Center in San Jose on Dec. 21 rounds out the non-conference schedule.

Dates are subject to change and tip off times will be announced once Mountain West television partners determine their broadcast schedules.
